dental-veneersHey Everyone,

Our dental practice,  Mark W. Langberg, DDS, MAGD, PC  has provided Southfield-area residents with dental care for more than 35 years!  Our popular dental practice offers family, implant and cosmetic dentistry.

Cosmetic dental services include everything from simple cleaning and whitening to surgical implantation of tooth posts and the attached synthetic dental prosthetics to replace missing teeth. We also contour overly pointed teeth and repair chips with composite material that looks and feels like natural tooth enamel. If you are troubled by gaps, malformed teeth, an uneven bite, or staining, we can help! A “gummy smile” can be corrected, as well.

Veneers on the front teeth are quite popular because they are so versatile and can be customized to match other natural teeth. These ultra-thin layers of restorative material greatly improve the aesthetics of a smile in only a few visits, changing the color, size, shape and length of each tooth. Dental laminates or veneers can be made from a resin composite or more popularly from porcelain. We really like the porcelain veneers because they resist staining so well, reflect and transmit light naturally, and are so very durable.

High-quality veneers – like Lumineers or Opalveneers – should last anywhere from 10-30 years, depending on the patient’s lifestyle habits and overall oral health.  I have been trained and certified in Lumineers application.

Typically, a candidate for Lumineers will have all decay and gum inflammation addressed before being fitted for veneers. An impression of the patient’s mouth will be made, and the mold will be sent to a specialized Lumineers lab. On subsequent dental visits, the teeth will be moderately etched to ensure a good fit, and then the customized Lumineers veneers will be bonded to the natural teeth permanently.  A Hollywood smile is born!

Do you have chipped, worn or permanently stained teeth? Do you find yourself covering your mouth to hide your teeth? Does your smile embarrass you? If so, you are not alone. According to the American Academy of Periodontology (AAP), 80 percent of participants in a recent AAP survey reported misgivings about their own smiles, and 50 percent said they noticed other people’s smiles before any other facial characteristic. If this sounds like you, come talk to us. We would love to discuss your dental concerns and your cosmetic dentistry options.

We know that some folks get stressed by the thought of going into a dental office, so we do everything possible to make visits anxiety-free. We run a “no guilt” office, and all our staff are trained to interact with patients in a sensitive way – even if you haven’t been to a dentist in years!

So, today is a new day! Pick up the phone and ask for a consultation appointment or a general dental checkup at (248) 356-8790 or visit us on https://drlangberg.wpengine.com .

That’s all for now!  Until next time,

Mark W. Langberg, DDS, MAGD
